I started going to the BlackBear last year and drive up from Salem. It's a drive worth taking! The shop has a cool atmosphere and decor. All the staff are friendly and professional though I drive up to see Alex. I'm always happy with the results, and she's a pro with a taper!

Been going here now for a while. I’ve had several different people and all of them do a great job. The owner Ryan is a great local guy too. Great cut, fair price, always easy to get in and out with good people.

I bounced around trying different barbers for years until I met Alex at Blackbear Barbershop. She is incredibly personable, a true master in her craft, and the only person I will let near my head with the clippers. If you are considering stopping by for a cut I highly recommend doing so and requesting Alex!

I don’t get my hair cut myself (I have alopecia and have no need) but I go almost every time with my partner and have known one of the barbers for almost two years now, following her from another shop. This is one of the most welcoming barbershops I have ever been to. My boyfriend has had his haircut by two people here now and they both have done impeccable work. I have watched and seen almost everyone work there. I see the care they put into their haircuts and the ambiance of the shop. From the welcoming atmosphere to the quality work it is someplace I recommend to anyone I know looking for a quality barbershop. The shop is stunning to be in and is always buzzing with positive energy. I am quite particular about who cuts my son’s hair and if his regular barber were to ever leave us this would be the first place I would take him, especially to Alex.

Sammy and Haley have been cutting my hair and my two sons' hair for a while now and they do an amazing job. Sammy has also kept my beard looking sharp and they do it all for an affordable price at Blackbear. Highly recommended.

Alex has been cutting my hair for the past year and when I heard she was leaving her old shop, I was apprehensive but when I entered Blackbear, I had a huge grin on my face. The shop is something I would have dreamt up if I were to design a space. It’s always impeccably clean, has a wonderful staff of professional barbers (including Alex of course), and there’s this wonderful balance between a familial atmosphere, a welcoming home for vets, and an homage to barbershops of old while still having modernity. Sometimes I find myself getting lost in the artwork, photographs, and signage around the walls. Going back to Alex. I can vouch for her craftsmanship, vision for my hair, and balance between professionalism and friendly rapport. Can’t recommend this institution enough.

Alex has been cutting my little brothers hair for a few months now, and does so well!! She’s very patient with him when he squirms, and is great with kids. I’ve also seen some of her work from other guys she’s done and they’re INSANELY good. If ur looking for a barber in Mass it’s worth however long ur drive may be. Going anywhere else is a disservice to urself!!!!!
